3Rs Centre Utrecht
Utrecht UniversityThe mission of the 3Rs Centre Utrecht (3RCU) is to reduce the use of laboratory animals in research and education. To do so, we follow the three Rs of Replacement, Reduction and Refinement (in Dutch: 3Vs of Vervanging, Vermindering en Verfijning), with a primary focus on Replacement.
Dutch Wildlife Health Centre (DWHC)
Utrecht UniversityThe DWHC is the national wildlife disease centre that identifies and investigates diseases among wild animals in the Netherlands, shares the knowledge gained, and advises on potential risks to humans and animals.
Pathology Research Core
Utrecht Science ParkThe Pathology Research Core (PRC) facility provides state-of-the-art tissue processing and analysis services to support biomedical and clinical research. With expertise spanning sample collection, histopathology, organoid models and analysis techniques, for studies on both human and non-human tissues.
Find your Data Science & AI facilities
Find facilities applying data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence to life sciences and health research. These capabilities support data-driven discovery, prediction, decision support and scalable analysis.
Princess Máxima Center Biobank
Utrecht Science ParkThe Biobank stores excess tissue and data of children treated in the Princess Máxima Center. Scientists in the Máxima Center can file a request to use tissue and data for their research that is assessed by the Biobank and Data Access Committee (BDAC).
Scientific Committee (SciCom) Princess Máxima Center
Utrecht Science ParkThe Scientific Committee (SciCom) is responsible for ensuring that all (pre)clinical scientific research is of the highest possible quality and complies with all (legal) rules and regulations.
Scinus Cell Expansion
Utrecht Science Park ZeistScinus Cell Expansion supports scalable, automated cell culture and expansion using the Osilaris bioreactor platform, helping researchers develop controlled and reproducible workflows for adherent and suspension cell culture applications.
Find your Advanced in vitro models facilities
Discover facilities that help develop and apply advanced human-relevant in vitro models. These technologies support research into disease mechanisms, drug response and personalized approaches beyond traditional model systems.
UMC Utrecht Biobank Research Ethics Committee (TCBio)
Utrecht Science ParkThe Biobank Research Ethics Committee (TCBio) reviews procedures for the collection of human biological material and its use for medical scientific research that is not subject to the Dutch Medical Research Involving Human Subjects Act (WMO).
Utrecht Platform for Organoid Technology
Utrecht Science ParkUtrecht Platform for Organoid Technology (UPORT) is a central facility within the UMC Utrecht that supports the generation of ‘living biobanks’ of healthy and diseased human tissues. Such biobanks are typically generated using organoid and induced pluripotent stem cell culturing technologies. UPORT provides a logistical infrastructure for rapid and standardized acquisition of human tissues, based on approved protocols for patient inclusion.
Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity Institute: Culture collections and databases
Westerdijk Fungal Biodiversity InstituteWI-KNAW maintains the CBS Collection of living filamentous fungi and yeasts, and the NCCB Collection of bacteria and phages. Researchers can order strains and deposit strains in the public collections, and also as safe deposit and patent strain deposits. Data including DNA sequences associated with the public strains are accessible online.
Find your Animal models facilities
Discover facilities that support responsible and high-quality research using animal models. Expertise includes model development, experimental design, welfare, imaging, phenotyping and translational applications.
